Ko Pu Island or
Koh
Jum (Koh Jam) is situated in between
Krabi town and
Ko Lanta and in the distance lays
the famous island of Koh
Phi Phi jutting up like sails on
the Andaman Sea.
The northern part of the island is
mountaineous and called Baan Koh Pu
with its highest elevation reaching
400m .. the famous Koh Pu mountain.
The southern part is Koh Jam it is
flat and has the better beaches. This
part is called Ban Ko Jam or Jam village.
3000 people are settle on Ko Pu earning
a living from fishing, rubber plantations,
and tourism ... but the Jam population
is spread in clusters of villages and
no one place has more than a couple
100 souls. Please dress properly, when
driving or walking through one of the
local villages.
The easiest way to reach the island
is by one of the daily ferries from
Krabi to Koh
Lanta.
